There is a simple magnificence to circles. The fact that in and of themselves, they symbolize the Universe and all of existence. In a cyclical fashion, we are born, we age, and we die. The moon, the planets. The egg from which we were made was even a circle!

But life is also imperfect.

There is a Japanese aesthetic principle called Fukinsei. It focuses on the beauty of  asymmetry.
The imperfection of the Enso (a broken circle) is a symbol of this, telling us to embrace imperfection, that we are a part of a universe that is imperfectly beautiful.
Chainmail is often an art of using circles to create different shapes or patterns than the circle itself. In this necklace I embraced the circle as the main aesthetic, creating a long winding river of circles - connected by more circles! - that begin to wind around larger circles.
